The last Will and Testament of ELIZABETH GIBBARD Spinster in the Parish of Sharnbrook Beds In the first place my Brother JOHN GIBBARD Esq will have my house in Parliament Street by right  I leave my Brother Executor and Residuary Legatee  I give my Brother one thousand pound

also give my nephew JOHN GIBBARD all my Shares in the Oxford Canal  I also give my nephew JOHN GIBBARD thirteen hundred and thirty three pounds new South Sea annuities  I also give my nephew JOHN GIBBARD the two thousand and five hundred pounds which I lent to my Brother  I give my nephew WILLIAM GIBBARD one thousand pound  I give my nephew LEONARD GIBBARD one thousand pound  I give my nephew HENRY LEE GIBBARD five hundred pounds   I give my nephew THOMAS BAYLY GIBBARD five hundred pounds  I give my niece MARY GIBBARD five hundred pounds  I give my niece SARAH ELIZABETH GIBBARD five hundred pounds  I give my niece SUSAN GIBBARD five hundred pounds  I give my niece FRANCES GIBBARD five hundred pounds  I also give my sister MRS HARVEY five hundred pounds  I give my nephew JOHN GIBBARD the China which he gave me  I give all my plate marked E G to my nephew JOHN GIBBARD a silver bread basket E G  four dozen silver forks E G  four silver Bottle stands my silver Tea Kettle which was my Brother’s to my Nephew JOHN GIBBARD a silver Coffee Pot to my nephew JOHN GIBBARD my gold watch and seals which was my mother’s to my nephew JOHN GIBBARD  A mourning to my Sister MRS HARVEY a mourning ring to my Sister GIBBARD a mourning ring to CHARLES HANCOCK Esq  My Ward Robe to my Niece MARY GIBBARD  My Diamond earings to my niece MARY GIBBARD

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of October 1842 – ELIZABETH GIBBARD – Signed sealed published and declared by the within named ELIZABETH GIBBARD the Testatrix as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in her presence and at her request hereunto subscribe our names as Witnesses – HENRY CORBY School Master Sharnbrook Bedfordshire – GEORGE SCRIVINER of Sharnbrook Bedfordshire Mason  

I the undersigned ELIZABETH GIBBARD of Sharnbrook in the County of Bedford Spinster do make this Codicil to my last Will and Testament which is dated the 7th day of October 1842  Whereas I have in any by my said Will given and bequeathed the sum of £1000 to my nephew LEONARD GIBBARD whereas he is lately deceased now I do hereby therefore revoke the said bequest and I give and bequeath the said sum of one thousand pounds to my nephew JOHN GIBBARD to and for his own absolute use and benefit and ratifying my said Will in all other respects and hereby altered and revoked  I declare this to be a Codicil to my said Will  As Witness my hand this 4th day of May 1846 – ELIZABETH GIBBARD – Signed and declared by the said Testatrix ELIZABETH GIBBARD as a Codicil to her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in her presence in the presence of each other and at the same time have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses – GEORGE WHITNEY Parish Clerk of Sharnbrook Bedfordshire – GEORGE SCRIVINER of Sharnbrook Bedfordshire Mason

In the Goods of ELIZABETH GIBBARD Spinster deceased
Appeared Personally GEORGE SCRIVINER of Sharnbrook in the County of Bedford Mason and referring to the last Will and Testament of the said ELIZABETH GIBBARD late of Sharnbrook in the County of Bedford Spinster deceased the said Will being now hereunto annexed bearing date the seventh day of October one thousand eight hundred and forty two made Oath that on the said day the said Testatrix duly executed her said Will by signing her name at the end thereof in the joint presence of this Deponent and of HENRY CORBY the other subscribed Witness thereto both of whom thereupon attested and subscribed the said Will as Witnesses of the due execution thereof in the presence of the said Testatrix  And this Deponent having carefully viewed and inspected the said Will and particularly observed an interlineation of the names JOHN GIBBARD between the tenth and eleventh line of the first side of the said Will also an obliteration of the word “one” in the seventh line from the bottom of the same side he further made Oath that such interlineation and obliteration were respectively made in the said Will prior to the execution thereof by the said deceased on the said seventh day of October one thousand eight hundred and forty two and this Deponent further Oath that he is one of the subscribed Witnesses to the Codicil to the last Will and Testament of the said deceased the said Codicil being now hereunto annexed contained on half a sheet Foolscap paper and bearing the date the fourth day of May one thousand eight hundred and forty six and having now carefully viewed and inspected the said Codicil and particularly the words “of Sharnbrook” interlined above the first line of the said Codicil and also an obliteration of the words “ratifying and certifying and ratify my said Will” such words composing the thirteenth and fourteenth lines of the said Codicil also the word “hereby” and “altered” written over some other words in the sixteenth line thereof he lastly made Oath that such interlineation and obliteration were respectively made in the said Codicil prior to the execution thereof by the said deceased on the fourth day of May one thousand eight hundred and forty six – GEORGE SCRIVINER – on the 12th day of October 1847 the said GEORGE SCRIVINER was duly sworn to the truth of this Affidavit by virtue of the annexed Commission before me – GEORGE THORNTON Commissioner  

Proved at London with a Codicil the 25th day of October 1847 before the Judge by the Oath of JOHN GIBBARD Esquire the only Brother the sole Executor to whom Administration was granted having been first sworn by Commission duly to administer
