In the Name of God Amen
The Foure and Twentieth Day of March in the Two and Twentieth yeare of the reigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles the Second by the grace of God King of England Scotland France and Ireland Defender of the Faith and Anno [  ] 1670  I FRANCIS PARFETT of Stratfield Mortimer in the County of Berks Yeoman being under some distemper of body but of sound and perfect memory thanks be to God Doe make and ordaine this my Last Will and Testament in manner and forme following First I commend by Soule to God that gave it me And my body to the Earth in sure and certaine hope of a joyfull [Resurrection] and Life Everlasting by the only merritts of Jesus Christ my blessed Saviour and Redeemer And for my wordly goods I give and bequeath unto the poore of Mortimer Berks Tenn pounds to yeild unto the poore people of Mortimer Berks Ten Shillings a yeare for ever  Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughters LETTICE PARFETT Two Hundred pounds to be paid to her by my Executors hereinafter named within Twelve Months next after my decease  Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter FRANCES Two Hundred pounds  To my Daughter KATHERINE Two Hundred pounds  And to my Daughter MARY Two Hundred pounds to be paid unto them by my Executors at severall and respective age of One and Twenty yeares And if either or any of my said Daughters shall happen to dye before their severall respective [            ] shall become due and payable then the [            ] of her or them of my said Daughters soe dying shall remaine and come unto the Survivors to be equally divided between them Provided always that if any or either of my said Daughters shall happen to marry without the advice of my Executors and consent of my Overseers hereafter named or the major part of them that then that Daughter or Daughters that shall marry without advice and consent as aforesaid shall lose the one halfe of her [portion] and have only One Hundred pounds and the other halfe of her [portion] to be equally divided between the rest of my Daughters that shall subject to the advice of my Executors and consent of my Overseers  Item I give and bequeath unto my Brother HENRY Sister MARGARETT and Sister MARY Forty Shillings apiece  Item I give and bequeath unto JOHN ROWLAND my friend Five pounds [            ] him to be [      ] and assisting unto my Executors and Overseers in the Sale and the disposing of my Tymber now in the Wharfe and other Tymber and goods of mine shall come into [my] [Wharfe]  And the rest of my goods and chattels unbequeathed my Debts and [Funerall] discharged I give and bequeath unto my loving Wife CATHERINE PARFETT  BERNARD PARFETT and JOHN PARFETT my Sonns whom I make joint Executors of this my Will  And I do ordaine and make my loveing Friends EDWARD KENE of [            ] Draper JOHN MILLES my Brother in Law and neighbour JOHN [            ] Overseers of this my Last Will and Testament  And my Will and meaning is That if my personall [estate] after my debts and [Funeralls] discharged shall not amount to the satisfying of the Legacies before by me given that then so much as shall be [wanting] thereof shall be deducted and abated [            ] out of the Legacy given to my Daughters as aforesaid  In Witness whereof I the said FRANCIS PARFETT have to this my Will sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written – FRANCIS PARFETT – Sealed published and declared by the Testator for and as his Last Will and Testament in the Presence of [                   ] THOMAS HEADLAND  FRANCIS HUMFRIES  My Will is That my Overseers shall have Forty Shillings apiece for their [           ] to be taken in my business
