In the Name of God Amen

I Sir JOHN RUSH of Streatley in the County of Berks Knight being something indisposed in bodily health but of sound and disposing mind and memory Thanks be to God do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in Writing in manner and Form following that is to say First and principally I commend my Soul to God who gave it hoping for a glorious Resurrection thro the alone Merits of my saviour Jesus Christ and my Body I commit to the Earth its first Original to be decently buried at the Discretion of my Executor hereinafter named And as to such wordly Estate as the Lord of his Mercy hath bestowed upon me I give devise bequeath and dispose thereof in manner and Form following First I will and order and direct that all my just debts shall be paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently may be after my Decease And I do hereby charge all my Estates both real and personal with the payment thereof accordingly in the next place I hereby confirm as much as in me both the [Jointure] or Settlement by me made on my Marriage with my now [            ] beloved Wife Dame LEONORA RUSH And I give and order to be delivered unto her immediately after my Decease by my Executor one of my best Sets of Table Linnen that is to say five Table Cloths and three Dozon of Napkins and also three pair of my best sheets which she shall [choose] and also the Bed Bedstead Curtains [            ] Blankets Quilt and all thing belonging to the Bed now standing in the Chamber over the Dining Room in the Messuage wherein I dwell and also my best pair of Silver Candlesticks the silver Teakettle Lamp and Stand and the best Case of Silver [crafted] knives and forks one Dozen of Silver Spoons the Bureau that stands in the Chamber called my Wife’s Chamber and also all the Jewells Watch Rings Plate Brass Pewter China [  ] Linnen Beds Bedding Tables Chairs and Furniture that did belong to her my said Wife before her Marriage and which she brought to me Also I give and bequeath unto such of my four Daughters LYDIA ELIZABETH ANN and LEONORA RUSH the Sum of Six hundred pounds apiece of lawfull Money of Great Britain to be paid unto them respectively by my Executor within six Months next after my Decease with Interest for the same after the Rate of four pounds for the hundred by the Year to be computed from the time of my Decease until the same shall be paid

Also I give and bequeath unto my Son ROBERT RUSH the Legacy or Sum of four hundred pounds of lawfull Money of Great Britain to be paid unto him by my Executor within one year after my Decease and in the mean time and until payment thereof I do give and order Interest to be paid to my said Son ROBERT for the same after the Rate of four pounds for the hundred by the year to be computed from the time of my Decease for and towards his Support and maintenance  

I Give and bequeath unto my Son MONTAGUE RUSH the Sum of three hundred pounds of like money to be paid unto him by my Executors within six Months after my Decease with the like Interest of four pounds for the hundred by the year to be computed from my Death until the same shall be paid

Also I give and bequeath unto MARGARET MARTHA and JANE CUNNINGHAM the three Daughters of my late Daughter MARTHA CUNNINGHAM the Legacy or Sum of One hundred pounds apiece of like money to be paid unto them respectively by my Executor when they shall attain their respective ages of twenty one years or days of Marriage which shall first happen  

Also I give and bequeath unto MARTHA NORTON the Legacy or Sum of fifty Pounds of like Money to be paid unto her by my Executor within six months after my Decease if she shall be living in my Service at my death otherwise I do order the same not to be paid and further I  do give and devise unto my Eldest Son SAMUEL RUSH all and every my Freehold Messuages Farms Lands Tenements Woods Wood Grounds Hereditaments Premises and real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever with the Appurtenances to have and to hold the same and every part thereof unto him my said Son SAMUEL RUSH and to the Heirs Male of his Body lawfully begotten subject nevertheless and charged and chargeable with the payment  of all my debts Legacies and Funeral and Testamentary Expenses in Case my Personal Estate hereinafter mentioned to be by me given unto him shall fall short and not be sufficient to pay and answer the same and in Default of such Issue I give and devise all my said Freehold Messuages Farms Lands Tenements Hereditaments and Premises with the Appurtenances unto my Son ROBERT RUSH To hold unto my said Son ROBERT RUSH and his Assigns for and during the Term of his natural Life Subject and chargeable as aforesaid and from and after his Decease I give and devise the same and every part thereof unto my Son MONTAGUE RUSH and to the Heirs male of his Body lawfully begotten subject and chargeable as aforesaid And in Default of such Issue I give and devise the same unto and amongst all my said four Daughters LYDIA ELIZABETH ANN and LEONORA RUSH To hold unto my said four Daughters their Heirs and Assigns for ever as Tenants in common and not as joint Tenants and subject and chargeable as aforesaid and as touching all the Rest and Residue of my Estate Goods Cattle Chattels Bills Bonds Leases Mortgages ready Money debts owing and Personal Estate whatsoever not hereinbefore by my given and disposed of I give devise and bequeath the same unto my said Son SAMUEL RUSH he paying thereout my Debts Legacies and Funeral and Testamentary Expenses or as far forth as the same will thereto extend And I do make constitute and appoint my said Son SAMUEL RUSH full and sole Executor of this my Will and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament and no other hereby revoking  all former Wills by me made either by Word or in Writing

In Witness whereof I the said Sir JOHN RUSH the Testator have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the thirtieth day of September in the thirtieth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth And in the year of Our Lord One thousand seven hundred and fifty six – JOHN RUSH – Signed sealed and delivered published and declared by the said Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our Names as Witnesses in the presence and at the Request of the said Testator and of each other – JOHN ELLIS, WILLIAM COMMINE, EDWARD HENDERSON  

This Will was proved at London the third Day of April in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and fifty eight before the Worshipfull George Harris Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right Honourable Sir George Leo Knight and Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissory of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of SAMUEL RUSH Esq. the sole Executor named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and Singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased he having been first sworn duly to administer
